Auxiliary workshop: Dental Hygiene Implant Certification Program

Abstract
This was a comprehensive program designed specifically for the dental hygienist and/or dental auxiliary. The morning module covered surgical, prosthetic, and treatment planning considerations. The afternoon module was devoted to implant maintenance with specific attention to clinical hygiene procedures. The day ended with practice management and marketing skills in implant dentistry.

The course fulfilled curriculum guidelines for oral implantology in dental hygiene education developed by the Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries and Practice Management (ADIA&PM). Additionally, implant practice development through the hygiene department was covered. Tuition included membership and a course certificate from (ADIA&PM). Also, a certificate of completion was presented to the hygienist from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio.
