The Science of ProceraŽ

Abstract
The Nobel Biocare/University of Michigan Center For Excellence began as a joint research venture to address questions asked about the Procera System by clinicians. Over 60 research projects have been completed since the mid-1990's at the Center.

This presentation highlighted investigations on strength, precision of fit, and bonding/cementation considerations for the Procera AllCeram crown. The Procera one-piece framework and the carbon-fibered framework were also discussed.

Brien R. Lang, DDS, MS, Ann Arbor, Michigan

Dr. Lang was Chair, Department of Prosthodontics, University of Michigan School of Dentistry from 1971 until 1996. He is currently Professor Emeritus in the School of Dentistry. Dr. Lang is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, and past president of the Academy of Prosthodontics, the American Board of Prosthodontics, and the Academy of Prosthodontics Foundation. He is the Chair of the Editorial Council of The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors for his research and scholarly activities in Prosthodontics.

Dr. Lang's current research activities are focused on ProceraŽ, precision of fit at the abutment/framework interface, and abutment screw mechanics.
