Single-Stage Surgery for Implant Placement

Abstract
Single-stage implant placement surgery offers patients a number of advantages. These include reduced cost and time commitments and greater comfort, function, and convenience. This course reported on the results of using a single-stage technique with 212 patients fitted with 846 implants since 1992. Specifically, the protocol of immediate loading of mandibular overdentures treated with Dolder bars and adapted dentures in place, within 24 hours, were presented.

Dr. Vassos received his DDS from the University of Alberta Faculty of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of both the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is an Honored Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Dr. Vassos has lectured worldwide and is a published author in the field of dental implants. He has been involved for many years in several ongoing clinical implant studies, on a variety of implant systems.

Dr. Vassos directs the D. M. Vassos Implant Learning Center and maintains a private practice limited to implant dentistry in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
