Soft Tissue Grafting in Edentulous Ridges: The Esthetic Challenge

Abstract
While there have been many innovations to place implants into areas of insufficient bone height and thickness, they do not always satisfy the esthetic demands of the patients. This is especially true in partial edentulous cases or those instances in which implants are interspersed between teeth. The course presented a variety of soft tissue procedures which have the capacity to correct and avoid untoward esthetic defects. By employing the techniques of soft tissue grafting, many of the more invasive bone augmentations may be avoided or minimized. This can also reduce the amount of treatment time and trauma to the patient.
